RBI Issues Commemorative Coin To Mark 50 Years of Indo-Pak 1965 War

The Reserve Bank of India has issued coins of denominations 5 and 50 rupees to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the Indo-Pak war in 1965. The 50-rupee coin is a collector’s issue while the 5-rupee coin is legal tender and has been released into circulation.The obverse of the coin bears the Lion Caipitol – the Ashoka Pillar in the centre with ‘Satyameva Jayate’ inscribed below it. The reverse depicts the ‘Amar Jawan’ monument with olive branches around and inscriptions – ‘Veerata aur Balidan’ in Devanagari on the upper left periphery, ‘Valour & Sacrifice’ in English on the upper right periphery, ‘2015’ under the monument, and ‘Golden Jubilee 1965 Operations’ on the lower periphery in English and the upper periphery in Hindi.
